The holidays are winding down. We are all recovering from a month-long sugar high. Now it’s time to get back to a regular work and life schedule, right? But I was so enjoying not doing a whole lot these last two weeks! 😉
As I get my butt into gear for the new year and new month, I sat down and thought of some of my bigger goals for the year. If you remember from the past, I’ve talked about how I love to set goals for the New Year, but I also love setting daily, weekly, and monthly goals to keep me working towards those bigger year-long goals.
I think that’s the important thing to remember. You can set all these beautiful and ambitious goals for yourself, but sometimes life gets in the way and you lose sight of what you’re aiming for. I try real hard to touch base with my goals about halfway through the year, but I try to do it even more often too. I noticed I kind of forgot about most of my goals last year until after summer. Then I was like, “Oh crap…we’ve only got a few more months left!” Then I kicked it into high gear and crushed a few of my goals for 2017. I haven’t reach them all, but I reached my sales goal for the year, and that was the big one for me. That told me I had a successful year.
Anyways, I can’t wait to hear what your goals are and to start seeing people share them, but until then, here are some of mine! I’m keeping it pretty simple this year.
40 Craft Sales
Last year my goal was 25 sales, and I beat that! I was so happy about it. Last year was the first time I put a significant amount of effort into my business, and I’m continuing that trend with even more fire in 2018. I have all of this excitement built up in me about it, but also a lot of fear and honestly still a little lost. I love creating, community, writing, and sharing really great stuff. If I can keep doing that and providing handmade goodies to people who are interested, then that’s the life, right?
Pay Off my Car Loan
According to my plan, my car should be fully paid off by summer, which is a two years ahead of schedule! I might be cheating because I’m like 95% sure I’m going to pull this off – it’s like putting something that’s already done on your to-do list. But you never know. I’m making extra payments on it now, and if something happens, that may have to stop. *knocks on wood* My car is not the best fit for me, so I am working on getting a new one. I might just trade it in, so this whole thing might be useless, huh?! Hahaha.
Launch a Website
This one is scary, but it’s necessary if I want to have a successful business – no matter how small it is. Creating a simple website doesn’t cost a lot of money, so why not? hannahajean.wordpress.com has nothing to do with Just Peachy, and it’s not as legit as www.justpeachycrafts.com, is it? Nope. So, I’m doing it. I have a huge content plan for 2018 with a goal of driving a lot of traffic and building awesome relationships with readers and shoppers. I want to both look and play the part. Keep an eye out for the new site in the coming months! We’ll see how long it takes me. 🙂
Treat my Body Better
I know exactly which day it was in 2017 where things started to take a turn towards the sugary fluffiness that has become my life. It was February 11. Dave and I were on a mini vacation, and I ate so much junk food. It was delicious and at the time I didn’t regret a single bite. But after that, I didn’t stop. I kept ‘treating myself’ because ‘next time I’ll skip it’ or the oh so cliche, ‘diet starts tomorrow’ thought went through my mind. It hasn’t stopped either. It’s gotten a tiny bit better in the last few weeks, but it’s the holidays. So, you know how that goes.
I could go on and on with my excuses, complaints, etc., but I’ll keep it short and promise you and myself that I’m going to treat my body better. I’m going to eat less sugar, say no to extra snacks (Dave seriously has so many meals between 5:00 PM and 12:00 AM when he comes to bed, and I snack with him), be more consistent and intense in the gym, and push through the lazy thoughts in my head.
I deserve to have a healthier body, so I’m going to give it to myself.
Learn a New Craft
THIS ONE IS FUN! I love learning new things, and with the holiday craziness done, I have extra time on my hands! I haven’t nailed down what I want to learn yet, but I’m thinking one of these:
- Water color
- Paper crafts
Is there anything else I should look into? I am open to pretty much anything except for sewing. 😂😂 I learned awhile back that I don’t have the patience to be precise enough to sew most things properly.
Step Up Pinterest and Email Marketing for Just Peachy
Jenna Kutcher has convinced me through her podcasts that I need to step up my game on Pinterest and with email marketing. I’ve thought a lot about both of these areas, and I think they’re worth a shot. I’ve heard from a lot of people that email marketing is dead, but I disagree. I think it’s the perfect compliment to all other marketing strategies. I think I could have a lot of fun with it, and once I start getting interest and subscribers, maybe that’ll help with my bottom line too. And Pinterest…this one took some extra thought. I know through my experience and research in social media marketing that more and more Pinterest users are there to shop and plan. This could work really well for Just Peachy as people do research on gift ideas, especially during the holidays. I am definitely in the initial stages of thinking through this – I have other initiatives that I want to get nailed down first, but these are coming right on up!
So there they are! Some of my goals for the year. I have some other things up my sleeve that will hopefully make an appearance in 2018, but we’ll see how it goes. I love sharing these every year because it holds me accountable and encourages me to tell more people about them. It makes a huge difference, I promise.
So, tell me. What are you goals for the new year? Or just for January? If you don’t have goals figured out yet, don’t you worry! Just because it’s the start of a new year, week, or month, doesn’t mean you have to start today. You can start tomorrow or next week. As long as you start.
You’ve got this!
