Setting goals at the beginning of each year helps me start on the right foot. Check out what I accomplished in 2016 and what I plan to take on in the New Year!
Last week I came across an article on The Muse called The Science Behind Staying Motivated Will Change the Way You Reach Your Goals. It showcased a video (shown below) made by Asap SCIENCE about what makes it difficult or easy to achieve your goals. It was interesting. So interesting that I basically started a novel in a Facebook status, which has led me to this Blog post.
One of the main points in the video is that people are more likely to stick to their goals when they are doing something they enjoy. The video says, “Play is the strongest motivator for sustained behavioral changes.”
YES. I feel so strongly about this! I really believe you’re more likely to stick to something – anything – if you enjoy doing it. Continue reading “The Science Behind Motivation – Why Choosing Fun Activities Will Help You Reach Your Goals”
When you’re in college, you’re thrown into a community surrounded by so many people your age with similar goals, interests, etc. This is especially true if you’re involved in organizations and/or live on campus. Being in this setting makes it so easy (for a lot of people) to make friends.
At UW-Whitewater, I stayed involved. I worked at the auditorium on our campus, I was a campus representative for the Disney College Program, I worked several internships, some outside of campus and some on campus, including an event and social media internship that kept me busy and involved with students on campus, expanding my network of friends.
But what about after college? Continue reading “Making Friends After College”
My very best friend got married recently, and I had the honor of being one of her Maids of Honor. I’ve always dreamed of being able to do this for my best friend, and even being over 2,000 miles away, it still felt special. It was a small wedding in Big Bear, California on beautiful land. I’m so happy for my beautiful best friend and her new husband! Continue reading “Happily Etems After”
I was watching Season 2 of The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt on Netflix, and Kimmy said, “I’m like a lollipop with a question mark on the wrapper. I don’t know what’s going on inside.” And I felt like she was my spirit animal (well, I always do minus the whole being kidnapped for 15 years). Lately I’ve been feeling super stressed about a couple of things, and it’s been messing with me. There are a couple of things that I do to help feel better, but it can still be difficult to forget you’re stressed.
April is National Stress Awareness Month. Obviously managing stress is important. I think we all know that, but it’s sometimes harder to manage stress. I’m not very good at it, but I do have a couple of go-to things that help when I’m stressed. Whether you’re dealing with personal stuff, work stress, or just having a bad day, hopefully these tips and tricks can help. Continue reading “How I Manage Stress: National Stress Awareness Month”
Fitting in a date night with your significant other is difficult when you both have normal schedules, but when one of you typically works nights while the other works days, it’s basically impossible. Sometimes the only time you have for a date night is after 9 PM, but what on earth do you do that late at night? It can be hard to think of something since a lot of places aren’t open – at least in a smaller city like Oshkosh. New York City or Chicago – those are different stories! Take a look at our list of late night date ideas that will get you out of the house – if you want! Continue reading “8 Late Night Date Ideas”
Last month Dave and I took a huge step. We moved in together! It’s been something that we’ve both wanted for a long time, but because of several different reasons, it didn’t happen until recently. And I’m so glad it has! It was nerve-wracking for sure, but mostly just super exciting. We are always talking about the adventures we’ve been on and want to go on, and I think this is a pretty fun one. 🙂
He moved up to the city that I live in and transferred positions at his job. He’ll be working in town with the hopes of finding something in the area that’s a little more up his alley. I’m so proud of how hard he’s working at his current job though! He’s kickin’ ass and takin’ names. 🙂 Continue reading “Adventure is Out There – With Dave!”
Every year we sit down and think about our goals for the New Year. I don’t know about you, but I often think about the things that I haven’t accomplished over the year instead of the things I did accomplish. Not this year!
I accomplished a lot. I experience a lot. Let’s take a look at my goals from last year. Side note: You’ll notice I’ve only written two blog posts in 2015 – oops! Life is busy, okay? Continue reading “Looking Back on the Year and Setting New Goals for 2016”
The winter months are the worst for your lips. They’re always so dry and chapped. I don’t know about you, but it drives me crazy! I keep chapstick everywhere – my purse, by my bed, in my makeup drawers, in my car, and on my desk at work – so that I never go without being able to moisturize my lips. Continue reading “All-Natural Lip Conditioner for Dry, Winter Lips”
These beautiful ladies above are my roommates from college. We were together in some arrangement in the residence halls for almost my whole entire time at UW-Whitewater. We lived together in the suites on campus and even called it The Suite Life (Get it? Like Suite Life of Zach and Cody?). They made my time in college amazing, and it was hard when we started to graduate and “leave” each other. As of right now, half of us live in the same city, and the other half live in another city about an hour and a half away. Now that we’ve all graduated, we decided that we were going to have at least one designated Girls Night each month. Continue reading “Perfect Girls Night Out: Paint and Wine Bar”
