Quick Corner to Corner Baby Blanket

Quick Corner to Corner Baby Blanket

I’ve been crocheting for at least eight years, and for most of that time I stuck with standard stitches and techniques. Not really for any reason, but just because it was what I knew. I would venture into fun patterns that were a little more complicated, and then in the last year I hopped into egg collecting aprons, which were a whole other level (to me).

Last summer, Repeat Crafter Me, posted the photo below, and I thought, “HOW SQUISHY DOES THAT LOOK?!” (the answer is very squishy)

I had to know what ‘C2C’ was, so I did a little research. It seemed like this magical crochet technique. How had I never heard of it!? Maybe I didn’t pay close attention to what I was looking at I guess. But anyways. Last summer and through the holidays I was slammed with egg apron orders and craft fair preparation, so I never played around with a pattern.

Once the new year rolled around I had a ton of free time (at least in the Just Peachy world!), so I learned the corner to corner crochet technique, and I AM OBSESSED. So obsessed. Continue reading “Quick Corner to Corner Baby Blanket”

Handmade Holiday Gift Guide

Handmade Holiday Gift Guide

The season of holiday parties, special family dinners, and Friends-Giving is here! It’s my favorite time of the year because of the extra time I get to spend with my friends and family, the curled up cozy nights with my man, and the beautiful holiday decorations, colors, and smells. The whole atmosphere of the holidays is magical.

I love picking out gifts for my family, friends, and coworkers. It’s fun to try and match up the perfect gift with their personality, an inside joke, or whatever it is that will make them smile. Sometimes finding those gifts is hard because the stack of way too strong fragrances just doesn’t feel right. Heck, maybe it does, especially when you’re stuck or in a time crunch, but it usually doesn’t work for me. Continue reading “Handmade Holiday Gift Guide”

4 Reasons You Should Give Handmade Gifts This Holiday Season

I hope you’re recovering from your sugar rush (or maybe from something a little stronger than sugar 😉 ) from Halloween because IT’S NOVEMBER, which means IT’S THE HOLIDAYS! This is my favorite time of the year by far.

About a week before Halloween through New Year’s Day is filled with friends, family, food, magic, love, and so many moments of happiness. It’s truly magical. I love spending time with everyone, and I especially love giving gifts. Finding the perfect gift takes time and careful thought, and I love watching people unwrap their gifts. Crochet Hugs Booties – Darn Good Yarn Box

Crochet Hugs Booties – Darn Good Yarn Box

Last month’s Darn Good Yarn box came, and I was excited to find out what June’s pattern would be. I had only experienced one box so far, which made the cutest hanging planters, so I knew it wouldn’t be something boring.

When my box came, I opened it and found beautiful blueish green yarn and…butterflies? I was so confused! It turns out they were magnets and were June’s surprise gift. I was pretty excited about that because now I get to find places to put them in our apartment!

Now onto the pattern… Continue reading “Crochet Hugs Booties – Darn Good Yarn Box”

American Flag Themed Egg Collecting Apron

American Flag Themed Egg Collecting Apron

I am so excited to share my latest egg collecting apron with everyone! The inspiration for this apron came from a post my friend, Made by Molly, tagged me in on Facebook of a red, white, and blue beach bag. With it being Independence Day, I knew I had to find a way to make a patriotic version of an apron. And you know what…the apron pattern is PERFECT for an American flag!

I giggled with excitement every time I worked on it. All 15+ hours. Continue reading “American Flag Themed Egg Collecting Apron”

Five Crochet Patterns for Beginners

Five Crochet Patterns for Beginners

As a crochet beginner, it’s very easy to feel overwhelmed by the number of crochet patterns out there. THERE ARE SO MANY. Luckily we can narrow it down by what we actually know how to do, right? 🙂 But even then, let’s say you’ve master single and double crochets, and now you want to try out a pattern with one or both of those stitches. There are still so many to choose from!

I’ve been crocheting since about 2012. My first project was an infinity scarf, and my mom didn’t give me a pattern. I just double crocheted around and around. Pretty easy, but after that I was hungry for more!

The patterns below are some of my favorite crochet patterns for beginners, and the instructions are so easy to follow! That was a huge thing for me. If the pattern wasn’t easy to read, I was moving on. All About Ami is one of my favorites, so I would highly suggest taking a peek around her site for some inspiration! What I Learned from My First Craft Show

What I Learned from My First Craft Show

A couple of months ago, my friend, Molly, asked if I wanted to participate in a craft show with her. Neither of us had done one before, and we are both craftaholics, so of course I said yes!

We planned what each of us would make and then we spent the next several months crocheting, knitting, and sewing like crazy. Jo-Ann’s text and email coupons became life savers as I obsessively went to the store for more fabric and yarn. November came up so fast, and the craft show day went by even faster, but I was able to jot down some notes about things that I learned. I did so much research on craft fairs, and I read the same types of articles, but it was so helpful to read each one from so many different people’s perspectives, so I hope that this is helpful for first time craft fair vendors! Craft Show Preview: Easy Half Apron

Hey everyone! As I mentioned awhile back, I am prepping for a craft show! I wanted to share some of the items I’m working on because I’m excited about them, and they’re pretty simple to make.

I’ve been working on apron sets with an adult and child version hoping that people will buy them as neat little holiday gift sets. This weekend I make a really cute navy and white polka dot apron with a yellow waistband. ITS SO CUTE. You can find some simple instructions below. Preparing for My First Craft Show

My good friend, Molly at Made by Molly, asked me if I wanted to do a craft fair with her this winter. OF COURSE I SAID YES! This is my first craft fair, so I’m pretty nervous! What should I make? How much of everything do I need? How much should I charge? What if nobody buys anything? Those are just a few of the questions that keep running through my head.

So, how do you prepare for a craft fair? Continue reading “Preparing for My First Craft Show”
