Polar A360 Review

polar a360 fitness watch with heart rate

I am a sucker for new things. I’m a sucker for white, clean things, too. So, when I saw the Polar A360 start to pop up on some of my favorite fitness role model’s Instagrams like workoutbean and getfitbrooklyn, I was itching to try it out. I started out with Polar FT4, one of the oldest models of fitness watches. In fact, it might be the oldest. I don’t know for sure. I really liked this watch. I liked it a lot, but I wasn’t a fan of having to wear the heart rate monitor strap, and some days I would forget to even put the watch on for my workouts. I was interested in upgrading, and I was looking for a watch that could:

  • Accurately measure my workout performance
  • Keep track of my daily activity
  • Show detailed data from my daily life and workout performance
  • Look super cute 🙂

I read a lot of great reviews from people that I trust, so I decided that if I met my goal in my Anytime Fitness Hollywood Fit Club Challenge, that I would buy myself one! Here’s what I think:

  • Training: At first I was nervous that the heart rate monitor would not be as accurate as the chest strap I was using with the FT4, but I find that it’s about the same. I like that your heart rate is broken out by intensity, and you can see that intensity as you’re going through your workout. It helps me push harder when I see that I’m not in the zone I’d like to be in. There are a lot of different training types to choose from, too. Running, circuit training, yoga, etc. are available to help track what’s necessary during your workout.
  • Data: This is my favorite part! The image below shows an example of what a training session might look like. Over time I know that I’ll be looking back at how I’ve improved over time in my training, whether it’s my mile time, average heart rate, or whatever. My only wish is that this data would be available for the entire day rather than just training sessions, but it’s okay that’s not available. The second image shows an activity overview for the day, which is super helpful too. I particularly like the sleep tracking. I can definitely see a correlation to days where I feel like crap compared to nights I didn’t get a whole lot of sleep. There’s not a lot of data in the app, but the website has so much! It’s fun to dig through.

  • Activity Benefits: You’ll notice in the image above that there is an activity benefit section. I haven’t dug too much into the amount of information that’s provided with this. I’ve seen more information, but don’t dig in too much. I do really like this stuff because it lets me know how I’m doing each day and especially during workouts. If I think a certain workout is vigorous and intense, but in reality it’s not, I need to take it up a notch or do something different. It’s all very helpful information.
  • Aesthetics: Holy man, this watch is pretty. There are a couple of different colors to choose from, but I think white looks the best. That’s just my personal opinion. I’m hoping in the future that there will be some cool designs to choose from. With all of the color choices, this watch is easy to wear casually or to work.

Here are some other cool features:

  • Wrist-based heart rate monitor
  • Waterproof
  • 24/7 activity tracking
  • Smart calories
  • Steps, speed, and distance training

Here is what it doesn’t do that you might be looking for:

  • GPS
  • Cycling speed and cadence
  • Running cadence

If you love data and you love improving your health and fitness, then I think you’ll really enjoy this watch. I know I do. I know making a purchase like this can be overwhelming, so if I missed anything that you have a question about, feel free to ask! I would be happy to help.

Follow along. You know you want to.
